Frequently asked questions

Here are short answers to the questions people ask most about Arcana Mentis.

Is this therapy?

No. Arcana Mentis is educational writing about how your own mind works. It can't take the place of a doctor, a counselor, or another qualified professional. If you need care, please reach out to one of them.

Do you teach mind control of other people?

No. Mind control on this site means looking after your own mind: your attention, your habits, and the way you talk to yourself. We never teach anyone how to manipulate, persuade, or steer another person.

Should I stop my antidepressant if I feel better reading this?

No. Keep taking any prescribed antidepressant, or any other prescribed medicine, exactly as prescribed, even if reading here helps. Talk with your doctor before you change anything. If you're in crisis in the United States, call or text 988.

Is anything for sale yet?

Nothing is for sale yet. The shop is closed, and its product list is only a written plan. You can read every room without buying anything.

What is Arcana Mentis?

Arcana Mentis is a free educational site about understanding and caring for your own mind. It lives at arcanamentis.com and belongs to no other project.

Who is this written for?

It's written for anyone who wants warm, clear answers about their own mind. Many of the pages are about a change at home, like losing a spouse, grown kids moving out, retirement, or a health scare. Others are about a new city, late nights with a phone, or questions about your care that you want to keep in your own hands. Everyone is welcome, and the same rules apply to everyone.

Are the depression and loneliness pages medical advice?

No. They're education, meant to go alongside care from your doctor. They haven't had a medical review yet, so please don't read them as medical advice. Keep taking any prescribed medicine as prescribed, and talk with your doctor before you change anything. If you're in crisis in the United States, call or text 988.

Do you teach hypnosis of other people?

No. Everything here is for practicing on yourself. Self-hypnosis is one practice in the hypnosis room, something you do on your own. We never teach anyone how to hypnotize another person.

Is there a newsletter, and how do I contact you?

There's no newsletter and no public inbox yet. The contact page says the same, and the sign-up box there is switched off, so it can't collect anything. Please don't count on a web page in an emergency. If you're in crisis in the United States, call or text 988.
