Privacy
If you're wondering who can see what you read here, the short answer is one small tool, and only if you say yes.
This page explains what Arcana Mentis does with information and what it doesn't do. We'll update it before any new kind of collection starts.
Who we are
Arcana Mentis is an educational site about caring for your own mind. Its intended address is https://www.arcanamentis.com. The site isn't a clinic, and it doesn't diagnose, treat, or take the place of a clinician. It's independent of any other project.
This page describes the site as it's actually built, including what's installed and what isn't. Publishing the site doesn't switch on advertising or a mailbox. The only measurement tool we use is Google Analytics, described next.
Google Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to learn which pages people read and how they find the site, so we can make the writing better. If you agree, Google Analytics collects the pages you view, your approximate location, and information about your device and browser. It sets cookies in your browser to do this.
It doesn't run until you agree. On your first visit, a consent banner asks you. Until you accept, the Google Analytics tag doesn't load and none of its cookies are set. If you decline, it stays off.
Google processes the data. We've turned off Google's advertising features, so the data isn't used for ad personalization on this site, and we don't run advertisements here.
The site is served through Cloudflare. Cloudflare also delivers the consent banner and the Google Analytics tag for us, using a Cloudflare tool called Zaraz. In its normal work of delivering the pages, Cloudflare sees ordinary request details.
You can change your mind. To withdraw consent, clear the cookies and site data for arcanamentis.com in your browser settings. The banner will ask again on your next visit, and you can decline then. You can also install Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which stops Google Analytics on any site.
What the site doesn't have
We won't make up a list of things “we collect” just to look thorough. The site has none of the following:
- Advertising networks
- Google advertising features or ad personalization
- A mailing list
- A checkout
- User accounts
- File uploads
Since none of those systems exist here, we don't keep a reader list, a purchase history, uploaded files, or accounts. We don't sell reader information, and there's nothing of that kind to sell. If a vendor is ever added (for advertisements or mail), this page will name the vendor and the purpose before it's switched on.
What may happen when you visit
Like most websites, this one runs on hosting that keeps server and access logs. A log entry can include an IP address, your browser's user agent (a short label naming your browser and device), the address of the page requested, and the time. This happens whether or not you accept Google Analytics.
Google Analytics is the only analytics vendor on the site, and it runs only after you agree, as described above. If another measurement vendor is ever added, this page will name the vendor and the purpose before it's switched on.
Cookies
If you accept the consent banner, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from another. If you decline, or don't respond, it doesn't set them. Your browser also remembers your choice on the banner, so you aren't asked again on every page.
We don't set advertising cookies. If another cookie is ever needed (for example, to remember a preference you asked the site to keep), we'll name that cookie on this page before we use it.
AI
Pages on this site may be drafted or edited with AI writing tools. That describes how the writing is prepared, and there's no chat window here waiting for you.
Arcana Mentis has no AI chat for readers, so nothing collects your messages, and no reader prompts are stored today. You won't find a box asking you to type a question, because we aren't collecting any.
Contact and requests
There's no public inbox yet. When an address exists, privacy questions will go through the contact page. Until then, that page explains that there's nowhere to send a letter.
Since the site doesn't collect uploads, there are none to delete, and there's no account to close. If that ever changes, this page will explain how to make a request before the change is switched on.
Children
Arcana Mentis isn't directed at children under 13. In the spirit of the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes that kind of information was collected, they can write to us once a public inbox exists. There isn't one today, and the site has no children's account, form, or upload that could gather that information.
Mental-health content
The writing here about depression, loneliness, meditation, and the other rooms is educational. It isn't therapy or treatment, and the site isn't a clinic. The crisis note in the footer says the same, and the FAQ covers it in short form. Never stop a prescribed medicine because of a page on this site, and talk with a clinician about any change in care.
If you're in crisis in the United States, call or text 988, or go to 988lifeline.org. Please don't send a crisis to a contact page that can't answer.
Changes
This page will be updated before any new vendor or any new kind of collection starts. If you come back later, please read it again, since it's meant to match the site as it actually is.
